Theatre Wins State Championship
11/16/2016

The FBCA Theatre Department advanced, for the first time in school history, to the TAPPS One-Act Play Championship, and their outstanding performance earned them the title of State TAPPS One-Act Play Champions.

Kolton Kaminski received the Honorable Mention Cast Award and both Ethan Walker and Kelsey Brown received All-Star Cast Awards.

The cast performed Twelve Angry Jurors, a play about a jury forced to reconsider its nearly unanimous decision by the single dissenter who sows a seed of reasonable doubt.

“I could not be more proud of this group of students and the hard work they put into making this play come to life,” Lana Thompson, Drama & Theatre Arts teacher said.

The story begins after closing arguments have been presented in a homicide case, as the judge is giving his instructions to the jury. The twelve jurors must unanimously decide on a verdict of guilty or not guilty.

“They started this year with the goal to advance, and they came together to form a chemistry onstage that allowed them to fulfill that goal,” Thompson said. “I am so incredibly grateful to have been a part of it all and watch them, step by step, create this world onstage that drew the audience in from the moment the play began.”

Love Your Neighbor As Yourself - Middle School Gives!
9/1/2016

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:36-40

This week, FBCA middle school students and families answered Christ's call in Matthew 22:39 to love their neighbors as themselves--in a BIG way!

Hundreds of canisters of disinfectant wipes, bleach, cleaners and disposable gloves were donated, loaded in an SUV and are now headed to Lafayette, Louisiana. All of these supplies will be distributed by CUPS (Communities Uniting in Prayer & Service), an organization that is meeting the needs of families impacted by the recent flooding.

Dr. David Pitre, FBCA Head of School, commented, "This is so wonderful! This effort by our middle school is quite a story of Biblical giving--and prayerfulness!"

Louisiana Flood Aid

"Love your Neighbor" Delivery UPDATE 9/2/16

Thanks to your generosity you are making a difference in the lives of flood victims in Louisiana! Dr. Pitre delivered cleaning donations from our middle school, "When I arrived at the CUPS receiving warehouse and met the director, she was moved to tears by my delivery. It was a holy moment! The director herself (Marilyn Harris, on left) lost everything in Hurrican Katrina and found her way to this ministry because of her own experience."

Claude Boutin attends L'Ordre des Palmes Academiques Convention
12/19/2014

Claude Boutin, FBCA's much beloved French teacher, attended the L'Ordre des Palmes Academiques (French Academic Palms) convention of foreign languages in San Antonio in November.

The L'Ordre des Palmes was created by Napoleon the First in 1808 to honor and recognize those who rendered service in French education. In 1850, the Prince-President, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, transformed the recognition into a true distinction. There are three levels of distinction:

  • Chevalier (Knight)
  • Officier (Officer)
  • Commandeur (Commander)

Claude Boutin was recognized as a Chevalier on July 16, 1993, then promoted to Officier on February 1, 2007.

FBCA Elementary School Speech Meet Results
5/6/2014

Last Thursday over 26 students participated in Fort Bend Christian Academy's elementary school speech meet.

Why a speech meet? The Christian philosophy of speech involves understanding the significance of speech as we commune with God and others, the importance of testifying to the character and nature of God, and the content and manner of our speech. Practicing speech in an audience situation helps our students develop communication skills that contribute to effective leadership in Christian activities.

Dr. John Lindsell Appointed New Head of School
2/13/2014

From The Board of Trustees & Head of School Search Committee:

The Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. John Lindsell as the next Head of Fort Bend Christian Academy, effective July 1, 2014.

Dr. Lindsell earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College (IL) in English Literature, a Master’s degree in Church John LindsellHistory from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.  His career in education began in 1979 as a high school English teacher at Lexington Christian Academy in Massachusetts.  After attending graduate school, Dr. Lindsell became Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Finance in Merrimack, New Hampshire.  In 1994, Dr. Lindsell and his family moved to the Southeast, where he served as Headmaster for the Westminster Schools in Augusta, Georgia; the Saint James School in Montgomery, Alabama; and Whitefield Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.

Currently Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, Dr. Lindsell directs a Master’s program for independent school educators. Additionally, he is a visiting faculty member at the Harvard University Summer School, where he has taught a graduate level course in nonprofit financial management for more than 25 years.

Most importantly, Dr. Lindsell has the combination of an abiding faith in Christ, outstanding leadership skills, and a fundamental belief that FBCA should be a place where “students not only master academic subjects and excel in extra-curricular activities, but also where they can meet, know, and enjoy the ultimate truth, Jesus Christ.”

Dr. Lindsell and his wife, Stephanie, are blessed with two daughters and three grandchildren.  They are active members at Trinity Anglican Church in Atlanta, Georgia.  In his spare time, Dr. Lindsell enjoys reading, traveling, and hunting.

Dr. Lindsell said, “Stephanie and I are excited to join the Fort Bend Christian Academy family.  I look forward to continuing its fine tradition of providing quality Christian education, and preparing young people for college, for work, and for a life of service to our Lord.”

Thank you to everyone for your patience and prayers throughout the search process.  During John's initial visit to our campus in December, he and Stephanie extended their time in Sugar Land, enabling them to talk more extensively with faculty, students, parents, and administrators over a two day period. The feedback received from our school family during that visit was overwhelmingly positive, providing additional confirmation to the search committee that God’s man for the job is Dr. Lindsell.

Please join us in welcoming John and Stephanie to our school and our community.  We invite you to join us for one of the receptions to be held in their honor on Monday, February 24, 6:00 p.m. in the South Campus Cafetorium, or Tuesday, February 25, 7:45 a.m. in the North Campus Eagle Café.

The Museum will open in the summer of 2015 in FBCA & the Children's Museumbeautiful refurbished facilities on the former grounds of the Imperial Sugar Factory. FBCA will be a part of Kidtropolis, a "city" within the museum, as the Fort Bend Christian Academy Community School.

FBCA loves being an active member of the Fort Bend County community. The partnership between Fort Bend Christian Academy and the Children's Discovery Center is certainly a wonderful fit for FBCA's emphasis on experiential learning. Below is the press release from the Children's Museum of Houston Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center.

SUGAR LAND, TX (January 23, 2014) – Shortly after announcing reaching its fundraising goal to open a year-round children’s museum in Imperial Sugar Land, the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center has announced a key sponsorship within what is expected to be one of its most popular attractions.

Fort Bend Christian Academy, one of the area’s premier private schools for elementary, middle school and high school students, has announced it will sponsor the Community School in Kidtropolis, one of the museum’s larger exhibits best described as a miniature city especially for children.

“We’re thrilled to align our school with an educational setting as powerful as the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center,” says Michael Emmons, interim Head of School/CFO for Fort Bend Christian Academy.

When children step into Kidtropolis, they will experience “what’s it’s like to live and prosper in a community,” according to Tracy Golden, capital campaign manager for the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center.

In addition to the Community School sponsored by Fort Bend Christian Academy, kids will enjoy a children’s diner complete with a replica soda fountain, counters, tables and kitchen.  Kidtropolis also will house an art academy, a news bureau, several job settings and even a bank where kids can learn the importance of managing money.

With funding secured for the museum’s first three years of programming and operating costs, the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center: A Very Special Project of the Children’s Museum of Houston will contract with a design firm to create plans for each of the museum’s exhibits.

The firm will work with the City of Sugar Land and The Johnson Development Corp. to remodel a repurposed building in Imperial Sugar Land to create a look and feel similar to the Children’s Museum of Houston. Six primary exhibits, managed as platforms for learning for children birth through 12 years, will focus on childhood questions such as “How Does It Work?,” Where Does It Come From,?” and “Can I Solve That?”

Those interested in contributing to the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center should contact Tracy Golden at 281-494-0297, tgolden@cmhouston.org.

For more information, go to Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, and be sure to “like” the museum on Facebook.
